Al Ain Ain Zoo Contributes to Global Wildlife Conservation Efforts

Al Ain : In line with its ongoing commitment to contribute to global wildlife conservation efforts, Al Ain Zoo-home to the world’s largest man-made safari part-exchanged knowledge and expertise with Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, located in the Republic of Kenya through a visit conducted recently.

The visit came as part of Al Ain Zoo’s efforts to conserve number of endangered species and to become part of international movements and local initiatives, which aim to enhance awareness through public outreach to some pressing issues, such as the conservation of the critically endangered species and encourage them to protect wildlife and sustain the genetic diversity of endangered species.

The Zoo’s visit to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy was filled with adventures, challenges, and adaptation to extremely arid conditions and traditional lifestyle in order to enrich experiences, exchange knowledge, and conduct scientific researches that contribute to wildlife conservation, biodiversity, endangered species protection, and to develop successful methods to create life-changing Safaris journey for visitors to embark on.

Commenting on the visit, Husain Ali Farid, Manager Safari at Al Ain Zoo, said: “As part of Al Ain Zoo’s continuous efforts to conserve arid land species and exchange experiences and research with leading organizations, I have visited Lewa Wildlife Conservancy located in the Republic of Kenya. The visit aimed at achieving Al Ain Zoo’s vision to become a world leader in preserving wildlife and identifying conservation needs to prevent species from being extinct. With Al Ain Zoo’s support and collaborative work with Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, 11% of White Rhino and Grevy’s Zebra were prevented from becoming extinct.”

The Elephant Safari is among a series of mega projects planned by Al Ain Zoo, which will be launched to reaffirm the Zoo’s vision towards global leadership in wildlife conservation by supporting various nature preservation programs and enhancing the visitor experiences to ensure the conservation of desert areas and unique wildlife through various educational programs and awareness campaigns tailored for future generations.

Al Ain Zoo has established an agreement with Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, located in the Republic of Kenya, in 2013 to support many of the projects and strengthen global position and vision regarding wildlife conservation. The partnership does not only cover wildlife protection programs, but also contributes to supporting cooperation and the exchange of scientific and academic expertise and providing essential support to important projects
