Actor Saif Ali Khan Attacked After ₹1 Crore Extortion Demand; Police on the Hunt for Accused

Mumbai, January 16: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an unidentified assailant after the perpetrator allegedly demanded ₹1 crore in extortion from Saif’s housemaid. The complaint, filed by Saif’s maid Lima at the Hill Line Police Station in Bandra, states that the accused had been in a heated argument with her before the attack.

The Mumbai Police have identified the accused from CCTV footage and are conducting an intensive search to apprehend him.

Incident Details

Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam revealed that prior to the attack, the accused had a verbal confrontation with the maid regarding the extortion demand. Hearing the commotion, Saif Ali Khan came out of his bedroom, after which the accused assaulted him and fled the scene.

The attacker stabbed Saif six times, causing severe injuries, including damage to his spine. Covered in blood, Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw by his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, as their car arrived late. He is currently undergoing treatment.

Investigation Underway

The case is being investigated jointly by the Mumbai Police and the Crime Branch. Crime Branch Joint Commissioner Datta Nalawade and encounter specialist Senior Police Inspector Daya Nayak are leading the probe. The authorities are questioning Saif’s household staff, as well as contractors, architects, and laborers involved in the renovation work at his residence, to uncover any possible leads.

The accused, who fled after the attack, has a history of criminal activities, with several cases already registered against him.
