93 Gallantry Awards Announced, 2 Soldiers Honored with Kirti Chakra: Full List
New Delhi, January 25, 2025 As India celebrates its 76th Republic Day, the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has approved the announcement of 93 gallantry awards to honor the exceptional courage and sacrifice of the country’s armed forces and paramilitary personnel. The list includes 2 Kirti Chakras, 14 Shaurya Chakras, and several other distinguished awards, with 11 posthumous recognitions.
These awards symbolize the nation’s gratitude towards its bravehearts who have gone above and beyond to safeguard India’s sovereignty and security.
Highlights of the Awards
- Kirti Chakra: 2 awards, including one posthumous.
- Shaurya Chakra: 14 awards, with three posthumous.
- Sena Medal (Gallantry): 66 awards, seven of which are posthumous.
- Nau Sena Medal (Gallantry): 2 awards.
- Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry): 8 awards.
- Additional Service Decorations: 305 awards, including Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, and others.

Sena Medal (Gallantry)
A total of 66 Sena Medals were awarded, recognizing acts of extraordinary courage. Among them, seven awards were conferred posthumously, highlighting the ultimate sacrifice of India’s brave soldiers.

- Nau Sena Medal (Gallantry): 2 recipients from the Navy displayed exceptional valor.
- Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry): 8 Air Force personnel were recognized for their bravery in challenging conditions.
Distinguished Service Medals
In addition to gallantry awards, 305 service decorations were announced:
- Param Vishisht Seva Medal (30): Recognizing lifetime contributions of senior officers.
- Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (5): For exceptional leadership during wartime.
- Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (57): Awarded for distinguished service of an exceptional order.
- Yudh Seva Medal (10): For distinguished service in an operational context.
Posthumous Honors
The awards also include 11 posthumous recognitions, underscoring the valor of soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation. Among them are Naik Dilawar Khan, Captain Deepak Singh, and Havildar Rohit Kumar, who demonstrated extraordinary courage during counter-terrorism operations.
