Shimla, Feb 24 : Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur informed Thursday that seven students of state have been stuck in war torn Ukraine. Speaking to media persons in the state assembly complex on Thursday, CM expressed concern over the war between Russia and Ukraine and said that state government have asked the union government to assist the Himachal Students.
Thakur said that the state government was informed by the parents and relatives of students who want to evacuate them due to ongoing conflict. The CM said that there are reports of other people being trapped in Ukraine, whom we are trying to bring safely. In this regard, The state Government informed the Central Government and the Ministry of External Affairs.
The CM said that the central government is making an effective roadmap in this direction. Hopefully soon the children will be brought back to India safely. He urged the children trapped in Ukraine to take concern and follow the relevant advisory. The Chief Minister assured the parents of trapping children of state that their safety is the top priority of the state and they should not worry, as a proper solution would be found soon.
Congress leader Mukesh Agnihotri also raised this issue in the state assembly that this matter is very sensitive. It is the responsibility of the government to bring back all the children. He blamed that airlines have increased fares to evecuate the stranded people. In such a situation, the government should take timely steps to bring them back safely. Congress President Kuldeep Singh Rathore has asked to ensure the safe return of Indians stranded in Ukraine, especially those from Himachal.
Among the stranded include son of state Deputy Director Health Dr Ramesh Chand, identified as Rahul who is stranded at Kharkiv ten km away from the nearest Airport. Mr Rahul is 3rd year students in Medical college.
